Fashion is one of medium that takes part in shaping our culture and identity. The intersection of fashion with other mediums are so wide. It is influenced by and influences also : art, design, architecture, photography, cinematography, music, science and technology, culinary, social tendencies (ex:gender), and major industry in the bigger scope. Slow Down The Greed is inspired by Kate Fletcher's concept of "Slow Fashion".
"Slow fashion is about designating, producing, consuming and living better. Slow fashion is not time-based but quality-based (which has some time components). Slow is not the opposite of fast – there is no dualism – but a different approach in which designers, buyers, retailers and consumers are more aware of the impacts of products on workers, communities and ecosystems." Textile and garment are one of the most export priorities for Indonesia. 60% are still dominated for fast fashion export greed. In 2015, the export process from this industry is expected at USD 19 billion. |
But until when we will survive with raw material and cheap labor??? Let's move forward and empower more design and fashion as competitive advantage! We will be showcasing proper MADE IN INDONESIA stuff that are not cheesy, well designed, well produced, simply sustainable goods!
We would like to make a humble presentation of today's Indonesian sub-fashion phenomenon and its intersection with other mediums that we mentioned above. The intersection is also not only happening with other discipline mediums, but also with the global world. In VOL 01, we will also try to present some concrete global collaborations to give insights about this phenomenon. |
